Kolache and Coffee Watercolor Print: Texas Road Trip Kitchen Art
$45.00
If you have ever driven the I-35 corridor in Texas, you know that approaching West, Texas means only one thing: Kolache stop!
This print captures that moment when – stretching your legs from the drive – you claim your hard-earned kolache and coffee. The image is from an original watercolor painting I created as part of my "100 Days of Texas" series. For the uninitiated, these traditional Czech breakfast treats – sort of a cross between a yeast donut and a Danish with a fruit-filled center – are ubiquitous in donut shops along I-35. It's a testament to the number of Eastern European immigrants who came to Texas in the late 1800s.
As a Texan with Czech heritage, a kolache is a sweet way of connecting with road trip memories as well as family. I know my grandfather would have loved having this wall art in his kitchen, a memory of Bohemia.
This print is for anyone who:
- Misses those Texas road trip rituals (though not I-35…)
- Knows the difference between a kolache and a klobasnek (and maybe has strong opinions about it)
- Needs a little piece of Texas comfort in their kitchen decor
It's a unique gift for foodies, coffee lovers, homesick Texans, or anyone who appreciates the beauty of everyday moments, as evidenced by the existence of both kolache and coffee.
About the Print:
High-quality archival paper with vibrant, fade-resistant dye inks
Framing: Print only; no frame included
Packaging: both 12x12 and 11x14 prints ship flat with acid-free backing board and cardboard stiffener
