The Declutter Begins

Sometimes I can trick myself into doing hard things by sidling up to them.

I have spent the time since getting the Valentine's Day card in my Etsy shop fulfilling orders (hooray!), working the day job (I got to make some prop labels for The Play That Goes Wrong), but also -------> organizing and decluttering.

When the decluttering started, I barely planned it. It had just been a to do item for like 27 years.

But I looked at my desk, piled with misprints, Pantone swatches, mail, envelopes, samples, reminders to get my driver’s license updated (in person for… reasons) and I was like, um, jen, you know that you cannot truly focus without anxiety on anything when you have all this stuff everywhere in your immediate working space.

I have done some triage organizing lately so I can print and ship orders, but on Saturday, I made a giant leap towards functional space. I logged like 15,000 steps that day.

Even though I have only done the initial steps at my #1 work desk (a box of to be processed/captured and a box of to be filed), I am already unclenching in that space and breathing easier.

Listening to KC Davis has been so helpful. It's so nice to find tools for making one's life more functional so things are less hard.
