Announcing my 2022 Holiday Greeting Card Collection!

This was the image that began the collection.

Available at Etsy and in the Stage West lobby.

I decided near the end of the summer that I would try to put together a greeting card collection for the winter holidays.

I had in my head a very simple design: black crows on a snowy background, white flakes against a dark sky, pops of red telling the story: Holidays can be murder. I knew that would be the first card in the collection. It made me laugh. I can’t be the only one who has experienced some messy, awkward holidays. Moreover, can you even go wrong combining true crime, crow puns, and Santa?

There are eight cards up now, with a few more arriving soon.

SO much work and learning and remembering what I’ve learned and forgotten went into making this happen. Thanks to family and friends who helped.

Growing up in Texas, snow was special, which may have led to my lifelong delight in snow people. Often called “snowmen” these temporary folk art wonders are in fact every gender, shape, and size. For years I have been documenting sightings of People Made of Snow (PMOS) . Those photos - mostly taken in Fort Worth and Colorado Springs - inspired these snow people. I had a lot of fun working through different groupings, creating snow families. In the end, the field of PMOS felt really accepting and welcoming, which are lovely feelings to have and to spread at the holidays.
